Η Εορτή
Στις 31 Αυγούστου η Εκκλησία μας εορτάζει την Κατάθεση της Τιμίας Ζώνης της Υπεραγίας Θεοτόκου, ενός από τα πολυτιμότερα ιερά κειμήλια της Ορθοδόξου παραδόσεως.
Σύμφωνα με την εκκλησιαστική παράδοση, η Τιμία Ζώνη συνδέεται με τον Απόστολο Θωμά και τη θαυμαστή Μετάσταση της Θεοτόκου. Αργότερα μεταφέρθηκε στην Κωνσταντινούπολη, όπου φυλάχθηκε με μεγάλη ευλάβεια και τιμή.
Τμήμα της Τιμίας Ζώνης φυλάσσεται σήμερα στην Ιερά Μονή Βατοπαιδίου του Αγίου Όρους και αποτελεί επί αιώνες σημείο ιδιαίτερης ευλάβειας προς την Υπεραγία Θεοτόκο.
